Launch of Oswestry Youth Sport Programme

This week, the Foundation launched it’s latest programme, which is being funded by Street Games UK.

The Foundation welcomed ten students from Marches Academy to The Centre in Oswestry.  Over this Spring term, students will have the opportunity to take part in numerous sports and team building activities, as well as learning about opportunities to develop careers in sports businesses.  Also included will be a visit to a Premier League football stadium.

The aim of the Oswestry Youth Sport Programme is to provide young people the opportunity to take part in a range of sports activities and to use the ‘power of sport’ to help them make positive life choices and decisions now and in the future – developing self-esteem and widening awareness of the positive role sport can play in people’s lives.

This programme is being delivered by The New Saints FC Foundation Ltd, in partnership with Marches Academy Trust, Bright Star Boxing, West Mercia Police, Oswestry Town Council, OsNosh and The New Saints FC.

Foundation Manager Gill Jones said “This programme is just one great example of the positive work the Foundation is doing in the local community.

“Big thanks go to all our partners and of course our Foundation team, who have all helped us get this Programme underway within very short timescales.

“We hope the young people taking part really enjoy their time with us, and that we can inspire them in some way to make positive life choices now and in the future.”
