A first Welsh domestic trophy
The New Saints Women clinched a first Welsh domestic title by overcoming Swansea City 3-1 on Sunday evening (February 9) at Latham Park in the Genero Adran Trophy final.

Since the announcement of officially becoming a semi-pro outfit ahead of the 2024/25 season, a lot of results have indicated that a trophy was to be on the cards.
Credit has to go to Shauna Duffy and the backroom staff, in addition to the players for carrying out the strategy onto the pitch.
Teare strikes early
The breakthrough came in the second minute on Sunday, as a misplaced pass from Swansea City fell to Chantelle Teare, who netted from close-range.

It was Teare’s 13th goal of the season in all competitions.

Jones delivers again
Lexi Jones has scored so many crucial goals this season, and it was no different in the Adran Trophy final.
The 17-year-old’s goal came in the 16th minute of the match, when a strike from outside of the box flew into Charlotte Haynes’ right-side of the net.

A three-goal lead at half-time
The situation become even better for The Saints, as in the 26th minute, Maria Francis-Jones whipped a great ball into the 18-yard area that ended up being put into the goal by Swansea’s Lauren Davies at the back post.

Francis-Jones has been a pivotal part of the team since arriving in the 2024 summer.
Looking before the Adran Trophy final, the Wales international was involved in 11 goal contributions in all matches played this season.
Only the start
From winning the last four consecutive matches in the 2021/22 Genero Adran Premier season to stay in the top-flight, to now lifting a first major trophy. This is only the start for Shauna Duffy’s team.
There are still two more trophies to play for this season with the Adran Premier and Bute Energy Welsh Cup.
The 2024/25 campaign continues this Sunday (February 16), as Saints travel to Old Road Welfare Ground to take on Briton Ferry Llansawel in the quarter-finals of the Welsh Cup.
