A first Genero Adran Premier victory of 2024
It was a first Genero Adran Premier win of the year for The New Saints Women, as Greg Draper’s team defeated Cardiff Met 3-1 at Park Hall Stadium yesterday afternoon.
Chelsea Cochrane opened the scoring for the visitors, before Chantelle Teare hit a brace and Mel Barlow scored a magnificent goal from outside the box to turn the game on it’s head.
The last time The New Saints netted three or more goals in a match at Park Hall was against Met just before Christmas (Sunday, December 17th)
Chantelle Teare
Saints’ number nine scored a great brace against the Archers that helped earn Teare the Henstone Distillery Player of the Match.

The first goal came soon after Met scored, as Beth Lewis played a cross into the box that found Teare at the back post, who scored calmly from close distance for the equaliser.
A second for the 22-year-old arrived in the 54th minute, where Nicole Samson played a pass across the box that found Teare, with the number nine scoring a goal into the bottom corner of the goal.
Mel Barlow
Since joining The Saints in January, both goals that Barlow has scored have come from outside of the box.
Sunday’s strike gave Draper’s team the lead just before half-time in the 43rd minute, as Barlow hit a great strike from outside of the box that went right into the bottom corner of the net.

A first-team debut
It was fantastic to see Olivia Buckland come onto make her first-team debut yesterday afternoon.

All the individuals that were on the pitch did an excellent job against Met, especially when you consider the amount of players missing from the team.
In total, there were 11 teenagers in the squad yesterday, which bodes really well for the long-term future.
Back to the top of the Adran Premier Plate
After yesterday’s win in the Plate, and the other result in the table going the Oswestry side’s way, it means Draper’s team returns to the top of the Plate Conference standings.

It’s a quick turnaround, as Pontypridd United are the visitors to Park Hall on Wednesday.
Two wins on the bounce would certainly be a nice feeling for TNS after a tough opening two/three months to the calendar year.
