With back-to-back cup victories – East Fife in the SPFL Trust Trophy and Ruthin Town in the JD Welsh Cup – behind us, we now turn our attention to the league, when we visit south Wales this coming Saturday (October 21).

The JD Cymru Premier MD13 game against Barry Town United at Jenner Park is a 1st versus 10th affair, with twenty points separating the sides in the table.

The MD3 encounter back in August will be very much in the players’ minds as they take to the pitch in south Wales. Leading 2-0 at Park Hall, the Linnets scored two late goals (85 and 90+6) to secure a point.

Along with the 0-0 draw at Maes Tegid against Bala Town, they are the only points dropped this season by Craig Harrison’s team.

Having not been in league action since October 7 due to cup involvements, The New Saints still leads the way at the top of the JD Cymru Premier, enjoying a lead of three points over second-placed Connah’s Quay Nomads and a game in hand, which potentially extends the gap to six points.

Still unbeaten domestically this season in all competitions, we are on an excellent run of form and one that Craig Harrison will be looking to extend this weekend.

Last time out, Barry Town United beat Pontypridd United 2-0, a win that not only ended a sequence of three league defeats on the bounce but also lifted them out of the bottom two.

For Saturday’s game, the hosts will be in yellow shirts with blue shorts and socks while The New Saints will be wearing green and white hooped shirts, green shorts and socks.

The respective ‘keepers will be in all-green and all-purple.

Rob Jenkins is the appointed referee and he will be assisted by Lewiss Edwards and Michelle Portelli. Ben Williams is the fourth official and Stephen Hames the referee observer.
