Safely into the next round

It was job done for The New Saints Women on Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Connah’s Quay Nomads in round one of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup.

When it comes to these matches against teams like a dangerous Nomads, it’s about making sure to not be the victim of an upset. Greg Draper’s team went about their work in the right manner and did enough to get over the line.

The next opponents will be found out in the draw at 8 p.m this Wednesday on Red Wall +.

Sarah Parkes

Sarah Parkes came into the team yesterday, and did the work when needed to stop any potential threat posed by Jordan Parry’s side going forward.

It is a 14th clean sheet for the 25-year-old in Welsh competitions.

Following the match, Parkes gave her post-match thoughts to club media.

Ella Hartley

Ella Hartley got The Saints off the mark with a lovely strike from outside the box midway through the first-half.

It was Hartley’s third goal from the first five games this season.

If Draper’s side are to be in the mix for trophies come March and April, Hartley will be integral.

Chantelle Teare

Saints’ number nine was causing chaos against the Nomads defence down the right-hand side of the pitch throughout the game.

Chantelle Teare got her reward for the hard work in the 66th minute, as Caitlin Chapman put in a brilliant ball that found the 22-year-old at the back-post, with the cross being converted by Teare from point-blank range.

It was a 20th goal involvement for Teare during her time in a TNS shirt.

Beth Lewis

Beth Lewis smashing a penalty past a goalkeeper is inevitable.

The skipper converted another spot-kick yesterday, after Emily Ridge was brought down in the box.

This was the 10th time that 21-year-old has found the back of the net in a competitive fixture.

Beth Lewis and the rest of the squad will be after more goals this coming weekend (October 22nd) when Swansea City visit Park Hall in the Genero Adran Premier.
