The New Saints are pleased to confirm the loan signing of Wigan Athletic winger Luke Brennan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old, who recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Latics, joins The Saints on transfer deadline day to strengthen their options in attack as they continue to fight for trophies on four fronts. 

After joining the Latics from Championship side Blackburn Rovers, Brennan starred for Wigan’s U21s last season and contributed to 20 goals over the course of the campaign.

Helped the Latics to third place and the Central League Cup Final, Brennan trained heavily with the first team this summer, scoring a wonder goal for Shaun Maloney’s men in their final pre-season friendly against Morecambe. 

The 21-year-old featured in the Latics’ Carabao Cup clash against Wrexham last month, and will now return to the region to link up with the JD Cymru Premier and gain valuable senior experience. 

Speaking earlier, head coach Craig Harrison described Luke as an “exciting young player with a lot of attacking ability.”

“He can play in a number of positions across the front line which will add to our firepower, and he’ll hopefully add lots of assists and goals,” he added.

The New Saints would like to welcome Luke to Park Hall and thank Wigan Athletic for their assistance with the transfer.
