The Table Looks Good

Although we always stress that it’s still early days, nevertheless the JD Cymru Premier table makes pleasant viewing for everyone associated with The New Saints.

With nine games played, TNS enjoys a seven-point lead over Flint Town United who are in second. Third and fourth placed sides, Newtown AFC and Bala Town respectively, are both nine-points adrift.

 

The Unbeaten Record Continues

With the only unbeaten teams going head-to-head, the 2-1 victory against Bala Town means that The New Saints remains the sole side not to suffer defeat in the league this season.

Eight wins from nine games – and a goal difference of plus fourteen – means that Anthony Limbrick’s side sits in a comfortable position, as we enter the second-quarter stage of the campaign.

Although there was ecstasy for the hosts come the final whistle, it was heartbreak for the Lakesiders. Taking a 1-0 lead, courtesy of a penalty in the seventh minute, the visitors more than justified their advantage as the game edged on towards its conclusion.

They were well-organised and came with a game plan that, for the bulk of the encounter, worked perfectly.

Proving very difficult to break down, it was far from a negative players-behind-the-ball approach from Bala Town. They broke quickly when they had possession and could quite easily have doubled their lead, for which we have Paul Harrison to thank, as the ‘keeper pulled off a tremendous save.

 

Declan McManus

The striker often features in our talking points due to the number of goals that he scores – he’s currently on thirteen for the season in all competitions.

This time round though, although he failed to find the net, he claimed both assists.

Ultimately it’s a team game and if you can’t score them yourself, set someone else up. The end result is the same.

 

Ryan Brobbel

Going into the game on forty-nine JD Cymru Premier goals, Ryan Brobbel’s superb strike with eight minutes to go saw him hit the half-century in style.

It got better though, for both Brobz and the team, when he got the winner deep into added time at the end of the game.
