One Point Gained Or Two Dropped?

Although the game ended 0-0, ultimately for most people associated with the club it would have felt more like a defeat than a draw.

A win would have taken The New Saints to the top of the table but, come the final whistle, it’s still Connah’s Quay Nomads who lead the way.

 

Ifs, Buts And Maybes

A goal disallowed in the third minute for offside, one late in the game cancelled by a foul, a clearance off the line, some good saves from the ‘keeper and a missed penalty.

If only just one had gone in – or been allowed – it would be a very different situation looking back.

 

Starting Line-Up

As a result of the previous game, and the fact that there is a busy fixture schedule at present, Anthony Limbrick promised changes in his pre-match press conference.

The six changes meant that 60% of the outfield players were in fresh for visit of Caernarfon Town. When you look at the squad at the head coach’s disposal, it’s a strong one.

 

Clean Sheet

Although overshadowed by the result, one positive from the match was that the team didn’t concede a goal. Following the four against in the previous fixture, it was good to get back on track with that statistic.

The big picture is that, after twenty-seven played, the defence has been beaten on just seventeen occasions.

 

It’s A Big Week Ahead

This evening (Wednesday, April 28), Connah’s Quay Nomads travel to Maes Tegid to take on Bala Town. Then, of course, there’s the Deeside encounter on Saturday, as The New Saints play the Nomads for the final time this season.

There are various permutations, depending on the two results. One of them is that Connah’s Quay could be eight points clear by Saturday evening. Another is that TNS could be top by a point.

It’s a big week ahead. Indeed.
