The New Saints is excited to announce the latest addition to the squad, as Adam Roscrow puts pen-to-paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal, pending international clearance. Joining the JD Cymru Premier leaders from EFL League One side, AFC Wimbledon, the twenty-five-year-old frontman signs a contract that will keep him at Park Hall until the close of the 2023/24 season.
The fee is a record paid by The New Saints, and is indicative of the ambition that the club has, both domestically and on the European stage, especially as the new UEFA Europa League Conference looms.
In addition, it confirms that TNS is able to attract players approaching their peak from the higher echelons of the English professional system, which is also testament to the ongoing development, both on and off the pitch.
Adam, of course, is no stranger to Welsh football, having been a key member of the Cardiff Metropolitan University FC squad, prior to his joining The Dons in June 2019.
He scored his first goal for the club in the EFL Trophy against London rivals, Charlton Athletic.
TNS Chairman, Mike Harris, commented on the transfer, saying that… “this will be the first, but not the last significant signing either. We’ve been prudent as a club, and as we take advantage of the current financial climate, we want to continue to build, not just for The New Saints but also Welsh football as a whole. We have come so far in the last twenty years but there’s still a long way to go.”
“Adam Roscrow’s signing also sends out a signal to potential investors. Why not invest in Welsh football? You get more for your money and there’s a greater chance of European football.”
There will be a full interview with Roscrow in due course, but for now we spoke briefly with him, as he shared his initial thoughts on signing for The New Saints.
“I’m delighted to join TNS, and to come to a club where the manager wants you, is a massive bonus. The ambition, as a club, and the quality of players in the squad also attracted me.”
In addition, Scott Ruscoe expressed his delight on the latest addition to the squad.
“We are very happy with the signing of Adam Roscrow, which further strengthens our attacking options. A goalscorer who knows the league well, who’s hungry to progress and is a very good team player as well.”
