The Result

After just five points from as many JD Welsh Premier League games, it was good to see the team get back into winning ways with a comfortable 4-0 victory. Following wins for Connah’s Quay Nomads and Barry Town United, it’s as you were at the top. However, the  three points is a statistical indicator at least, that we have turned the results corner.

 

Four Goals And Four Different Scorers

As is often the case, the goals were spread throughout the side, in this instance a defender, a midfielder and two strikers found their names on the list come the final whistle. One of the big positives with the squad is that goals can come from anywhere, and a look at the statistics so far this season bears that out.

 

Kane Lewis

In the starting line-up courtesy of Chris Marriott’s red card last week at Bala Town, Kane not only took his opportunity well but also scored the opening goal for The New Saints in the 23rd minute.

Picking the ball up from the left, the ex-Liverpool FC youngster made his way towards goal before unleashing a shot that beat the keeper and broke the deadlock. His first goal for the club, we interviewed Kane following the game for TNS TV.

 

Clean Sheet 

Another solid performance from the back four ensured that the tightest defence in the league stayed that way, come the end of MD18. Conceding just 12 in 18 games, the next on the list is Connah’s Quay Nomads with 16, and to give you an idea of how impressive the statistic is, the third-best defence statistically in the league is Caernarfon Town with 20 goals against.

 

Goals Galore Against Llandudno

Having played The Seasiders three times this season  – twice in the JD Welsh Premier League and once in the Nathaniel MG Cup – the statistics as far as goals are concerned look very impressive indeed.

A 6-1 in the league at Park Hall was followed by a 5-0 on the road in the cup and then this victory, ensuring a 15-1 aggregate.
