The New Saints are delighted to announce that defender Dynel Simeu will join the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Simeu, born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, came through one of England's most successful academies at Chelsea FC, where he was part of the Under-23 squad that won the Premier League 2 title in the 2019-20 season.
In the following campaign, he captained and featured prominently for the Blues' U23s team, before completing a move to Southampton in 2021.
During his time with the Saints, the 24-year-old developed further through three loan spells in the English Football League. He made his senior breakthrough at Carlisle United before joining Tranmere Rovers, where he scored his first professional goal in a 3-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
A further loan at Morecambe added League One experience to his CV, giving him over 30 senior EFL appearances in total.
The former England U19 international departed Southampton in 2024, going on to sign for Albanian top-flight side Teuta Durrës before returning to England with Oldham Athletic in November 2025.
In the 2025/26 League Two campaign, he made a notable contribution from defence, netting twice in 11 league appearances for the Latics.
Head Coach Craig Harrison said: "Strengthening our defensive options was a real priority this summer, and Dynel ticks every box. He's a big, powerful defender with great pace and athleticism, and he's very comfortable on the ball too.
“I watched him closely at Oldham last season and was impressed - he has exactly the right blend of quality and experience, and at 24 he's at a great age to come in and make an impact. He's only been in training for a week or so but he's already settled in brilliantly with the lads. We're really looking forward to him adding his quality to our backline."
