The New Saints continued their pre-season preparations at Park Hall this afternoon as they took on the Isle of Man national side in friendly action.
It was a strong performance from Craig Harrison’s side, with the JD Cymru Premier champions securing an 8-0 victory against their opponents from the British Crown Dependency.
Despite enjoying plenty of chances, the deadlock wasn’t broken until the 41st minute, when Ben Wilson fired home at the first time of asking from the edge of the penalty area.
The former Airdrieonians man helped himself to a second in first-half stoppage time, as he swept Leo Smith’s corner from the right into the roof of the net to send his side into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Following the break, Wilson completed an impressive hat-trick as he swept home Brad Young’s cross from the right, before Young himself got in on the act with a quick-fire brace.
Dan Williams increased the advantage to 6-0 with a powerful strike in the 74th minute, but the scoring wasn’t done there.
Substitutes Lewis Wynne and Jake Morris were both on target in the closing stages to further extend the TNS lead and seal an emphatic victory for the JD Cymru Premier champions.
