Everyone at The New Saints extends their congratulations to former Academy player Eric Ramsay following his appointment as head coach of English Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

Eric spent a number of years with the club, developing through the Academy at Park Hall and laying the foundations for the impressive career that would follow. 

After a brief spell with Welshpool Town, Eric put his playing aspirations to one side, choosing instead to pursue a coaching pathway that has seen him rise rapidly through the professional game.

Following his studies at Loughborough University, he built a strong reputation within academy and player development environments, holding roles at Swansea City, Shrewsbury Town and Chelsea.

His progression continued at Manchester United, where he worked within the first-team setup before moving into senior management with Minnesota United in 2024.

There, he became the youngest permanent head coach in MLS history and led the club to sustained success, including back-to-back play-off campaigns and their highest-ever league finish.

The 33-year-old now returns to English football to take charge at West Bromwich Albion, marking another significant milestone in an impressive career.

The Ramsay family’s connection to Park Hall runs deeper still, with Eric’s brother Alex also progressing through the Saints’ Academy and going on to enjoy a long career as a goalkeeper in the JD Cymru Premier.
