It proved to be a positive weekend for The New Saints, as not only did they get back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Caernarfon Town, they also moved 12 points clear at the top of the JD Cymru Premier table.
Craig Harrison’s side were forced to be patient, but Ben Clark’s skilful finish in the 82nd minute, and a powerful stoppage-time strike from Jordan Williams, proved enough to secure all three points.
With Penybont falling to a 5-4 defeat against Colwyn Bay, the gap at the top widened even further, which was an added bonus on an already positive weekend.
This Saturday (December 6th), however, attention switches from league business to cup action, with the Saints continuing their Nathaniel MG Cup title defence in the semi-finals against Llandudno.
It’s a meeting of two league leaders, as The New Saints from the JD Cymru Premier and Llandudno from the JD Cymru North, are both aiming to book their place in the final.
The journey to this season’s semi-final stage has seen Craig Harrison’s side beat Airbus UK Broughton (7-1), Connah’s Quay Nomads (3-1) and Caernarfon Town (3-0). Connah’s Quay was on the road, with the other two games played at Park Hall.
The Seasiders’ adventures began at the Go Goodwins Stadium with wins against Gresford Athletic (7-0) and Denbigh Town (3-1), followed by a high-scoring victory (6-3) away against Newtown.
Saturday’s clash will be the first meeting between the Saints and the Seasiders since March 2nd, 2019, when TNS ran out 8-1 winners in the JD Welsh Cup.
Alex Livesey will take charge of the semi-final, assisted by Harry Hendricks and Ashley Davis. Siôn Peter acts as fourth official, with Gareth Lloyd as referee observer.
Tickets are available HERE – £11 for adults, £6 for concessions, and £4 for U18s. Kick-off is at 2:30pm, and supporters are encouraged to buy online in advance to avoid queues and speed up entry on the day.
