The New Saints Women are delighted to announce the signing of exciting winger Amber Lightfoot, who joins the club following her departure from Wrexham earlier this summer.
Lightfoot, 22, adds pace, creativity, and a proven eye for goal to Jodie Williams’ side after a standout four-year spell with the Red Dragons.
She joined Wrexham in 2021 at the age of 20 and made an instant impact. Over two seasons in the Genero Adran North, she scored a remarkable 37 goals in 39 appearances, playing a key role in the club’s promotion to the top flight.
Her impressive form continued in the Genero Adran Premier, where she made 38 league appearances across two seasons, missing just two matches. Her performances helped Wrexham secure a third-place finish in their debut campaign in the top division, and reach back-to-back Bute Energy Welsh Cup finals.
Lightfoot began her career in the Liverpool youth system before joining Wrexham’s U19 set-up in the summer of 2021. Although technically still a youth player at the time, she was already making an impact at senior level, finishing that season as the U19s’ top scorer.
In her first full senior season, she scored 14 league goals and was named Young Player of the Season. She followed that up in 2022/23 with 16 league goals and 20 in all competitions, helping Wrexham win the Genero Adran North title and earn promotion to the Adran Premier.
Ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Lightfoot was rewarded for her contributions with one of Wrexham’s first semi-professional contracts.
Now, she begins a new chapter at Park Hall, bringing attacking flair and additional top-flight experience to The New Saints.
Speaking after her arrival at Park Hall, Amber said: “I’m really excited to join The New Saints. It’s a fresh challenge for me, and I’m looking forward to playing a part in what this team is building.
“The club has big ambitions, and I want to contribute as much as I can on and off the pitch.”
Head coach Jodie Williams was also pleased to get the signing over the line, adding: “We’re delighted to welcome Amber, who joins us from just up the road at Wrexham. A creative player with a proven eye for goal, she has consistently impressed with her ability to both craft chances and finish them.
“Having tracked her progress for some time, we’re thrilled she’s chosen to continue her journey with The New Saints. Amber brings fantastic energy to the squad and has already settled in brilliantly. We’re confident she will make a real impact both on and off the pitch in the seasons ahead.”
Lightfoot will wear the number 18 shirt at Park Hall and is eligible for selection in Sunday’s Genero Adran Premier opener against Cardiff City. Tickets for that match can be purchased HERE.
