The New Saints endured a frustrating start to their JD Cymru Premier campaign on Sunday, falling to a 3-0 home defeat against Briton Ferry Llansawel.

Returning to action against Penybont on Saturday (August 16th), Craig Harrison’s side will be hoping to get their title defence back on track though in front of the S4C cameras.

While TNS stumbled on the opening day, this weekend’s hosts started strongly, narrowly defeating Haverfordwest County 1-0 despite playing the majority of the second-half with only ten men.

Like the Saints, Penybont also tested themselves on the European stage this summer, and after finishing runners-up last season, Rhys Griffiths’s men are set to provide formidable opposition in South Wales.

TNS fans won’t want to be reminded of their previous two visits to the DragonBet Stadium either, as both ended in defeat. The 2-1 reversal on September 22 was the Bont’s first-ever win in this fixture.

On Saturday evening, the home side will be in all-blue, with The New Saints in green and white hooped shirts, green shorts and socks. Goalkeepers will be wearing all-yellow and all-orange respectively.

The referee is Thomas Owen, with Ian Bird and Harry Hendricks the two assistants. Bryn Markham-Jones has been appointed fourth official and Mark Whitby the referee observer.
