The New Saints have been crowned JD Cymru Premier champions for a record-extending 17th time!

Following Penybont’s 0-0 draw at home against Cardiff Met University last night, it’s no longer possible for Rhys Griffiths’ side to earn enough surpass The Saints, meaning the JD Cymru Premier trophy remains at Park Hall for at least another season.

Having lifted the Nathaniel MG Cup already this season, last night’s title win is the latest chapter in what’s arguably been the club’s best-ever season following their UEFA Conference League exploits last year.

Earlier this week, head coach Craig Harrison praised his squad, saying: “It’s been a really good campaign for us overall. Obviously we had a little bit of a slippy start, but we had European games and then every few days we had another domestic game.

“Since coming out of Europe though we’ve won every game since then. It’s been unfortunate that the other clubs couldn’t quite keep up with us at the same pace as they did earlier on in the season.”

The Saints don’t have time to celebrate, however, as they’re back in action tomorrow in the semi-finals of the JD Welsh Cup.

They take on Cambrian United as they look to complete a first domestic treble since 2016.
