The New Saints Women are delighted to announce the signing of Wales U17 international Mia Davies. 

Following the arrival of goalkeeper Megan Bowen yesterday, Shauna Duffy has now moved to strengthen her defensive options with a second signing in as many days.

Born in Anglesey, the 16-year-old joined the FAW Girls’ Academy prior to the 2023/24 season and has been a standout performer over the last 18 months, playing 20 games last season and another 20 in the current campaign.

Her impressive displays quickly attracted the attention of the Wales national set-up, and in September 2024, she made her U17s debut against the Republic of Ireland.

The teenager went on to featured in two of her country’s 2025 European Women’s U17 Championship qualifiers last October (including a 2-1 victory against Slovenia), and was again selected as part of the squad in December. 

Currently in Portugal with the national side, the defender was an unused substitute in Wales’ 1-0 defeat against Denmark on Wednesday evening, with further games against Portugal and Iceland to follow this weekend. 

“I’m excited for this opportunity and to get started with the club,” Davies said, when asked for her thoughts on signing for The New Saints.

“It’s a great environment, and I’m looking forward to learning and developing with the team.”

Head coach, Shauna Duffy was pleased to secure the defender’s signature, describing her as a “standout performer for the FAW North Academy with her dominant defensive displays.”

“For someone so young, she plays with full confidence and already portrays strong leadership skills. We are excited to work with Mia and see what impact she can have within the squad,” Duffy added.
