Having played at home on December 26th in each of the last two seasons, this time around, it’s a trip to The Oval for The New Saints on Boxing Day.
Fellow European qualifiers, Caernarfon Town, provide the opposition for Craig Harrison’s side in what’s set to be an important fixture for both teams.
A 5-2 victory against Briton Ferry Llansawel moved The Saints to within a point of the JD Cymru Premier summit on Sunday, while the Canaries suffered a 3-1 defeat on the road against Aberystwyth Town on Saturday afternoon.
Should results elsewhere go their way, it means the potential of leapfrogging Penybont and moving top of the table for the first time this season for TNS, but for Richard Davies’ team, they also need the three points to strengthen their chances of finishing in the Championship Conference for a second consecutive year.
Back in October, the Canaries picked up a 2-1 victory at Park Hall to make it back-to-back home defeats for The Saints (the first time it’d happened in more than 20 years), so the Oswestry-based side will also be keen to avoid a repeat of that this time around.
Caernarfon Town will be in yellow shirts, green shirts and yellow socks, while The New Saints will be wearing their all navy away kit. All-purple is the choice of strip for the home goalkeepers, and all-grey for the JD Cymru Premier champions.
Thursday’s game will be refereed by Thomas Owen, with Richard Dolphin and Chimezirim Iwueke providing assistance down the lines. Siôn Davies is the appointed fourth official.
If you aren’t at The Oval in person, you don’t have to miss out on the action, as the match will be streamed live online courtesy of Sgorio. Visit their YouTube channel or Facebook Page to watch the action.
