LATEST NEWS

Following their 2-1 victory over Cardiff Met, it’s a departure from league action for The New Saints Women this weekend, as they take on Cardiff City in the quarter-finals of the Genero Adran Trophy.

With the two sides separated by just two points at the top of the Genero Adran Premier table, it perhaps came as no surprise to see The Saints and Bluebirds paired together in the draw, and with Shauna Duffy’s side looking to reach the semi-finals for a fourth year in a row, it’s set to be an intriguing encounter at Park Hall.

Back in April, the side from the capital claimed their maiden victory in the competition, coming from behind to defeat Swansea City 5-1 at Penybont’s SDM Glass Stadium, and after completing an impressive treble last season, they won’t want to relinquish their trophy without a fight.

Holding her pre-match press conference earlier this week, The Saints’ head coach explained that she was expecting a closely-matched game when the opening whistle blows, but that her side would be doing everything possible to put in a strong performance.

Duffy was also asked about the confidence within the squad after winning their last five matches, the pathway linking the first-team with the U19s set-up, and any particular messages she’ll be looking to get across ahead of the game on Sunday.

On top of that, there was also an update regarding injuries and availability, including positive news about Sophie Phillips, who made her return off the bench last weekend.

Check out the video below to hear all of that, plus more.
