A first win at Aberystwyth Town
The New Saints Women secured a first win at Park Avenue in the Genero Adran Premier against Aberystwyth Town yesterday evening, overcoming Chris Church’s side 1-0 in front of the Sgorio cameras.

Previously, The New Saints have had two 3-3 draws and a 1-0 loss at Aberystwyth.
It’s another breakthrough for Shauna Duffy’s team in the Adran Premier.
Persistence is key
It took a while for the deadlock to be broken, but a goal was found in the 83rd minute, as Lia Lewis netted from a spot-kick following a handball by Josie Pugh.
The Saints had a multiple opportunities to find the net before then, but didn’t get frustrated and kept working hard.
Persistence of finding the back of the net proved significant, and could well help the morale ahead of two knockout games in both Wales domestic competitions to come.
Clean sheet
Saints were solid at the back throughout the game, which led to an excellent clean sheet.
A brilliant tackle by Helen Evans stopped Lleucu Mathias from having a shot late on from close distance in the 88th minute.
After already being involved in two 1-1 draws this season, keeping a good defensive display in games might be the difference for TNS to challenge at the top end of the Adran Premier.
Solid penalty
Skipper, Lewis, certainly stepped up and delivered a fine penalty against the Seasiders.

The number 34 holds an 100% record from 12-yards out.
You wouldn’t back against the 28-year-old from scoring a few more from the penalty spot when required in the future.
Second in the table
Duffy’s side remain hot on the heels of league leaders and defending champions, Cardiff City.
There is only two points separating TNS and the Bluebirds with 13 games to play.

A title race may look on the cards, as presuming both make the top four, the two teams still need to play each other three times this season in the Adran Premier.
