It started well
For the second home game on the bounce, we took an early lead.
Against Bala Town, a couple of weeks ago, it was Sion Bradley who opened the scoring in the 5th minute.
This time it was Leo Smith who broke the deadlock – as he was fed the ball by Danny Redmond – with a fantastic strike as we approached twelve.
It was all downhill from there
Just like the encounter with the Lakesiders though, we failed to capitalise on the advantage, and in the case of the Bala Town game, the visitors were back on level-pegging just seven minutes on.
In the case of the Cofis, the lead lasted until eleven minutes before the break.
The common denominator in both fixtures though, is that the opponent went on to win the game.
Missed opportunities
It could have been very different against Caernarfon Town however, if chances had been put away. It was one of the points made by head coach, Craig Harrison, in his post-match club interview.
Whether a lack of clinical finishing, great saves from Hari Thomas, solid defending or the woodwork coming to the visitors’ rescue, the reality was that we couldn’t add to the early strike.

Let’s not forget the Canaries though.
Richard Davies had his side extremely well-organised and focused and you cannot take away from the victory. It was well-deserved.
In fact, since taking over the manager’s role at the Oval, he has certainly made his impact, with the European qualification last season an historic moment in the history of the football club.
It’s time for character to rise in the dressing room
Also in his post-match interview, Craig Harrison spoke of the need for the players to respond.
He mentioned character and, as we all know, there is plenty of that in the dressing room.
With just three days between the games, there isn’t that much time to dwell on Wednesday’s defeat, because on Saturday we play Cardiff Metropolitan University FC.
They’ve lost back-to-back games themselves and with The New Saints only picking up three points from the last four league outings, both will be looking to turn their current respective fortunes around.
More than ever, it’s time for character to rise in the dressing room.
