Although European football is dominating TNS’ front page headlines at the moment – and naturally so – this Friday (August 2), the  2024/2025 domestic season gets underway at Park Hall.

The Nathaniel MG Cup second round game, sees the holders of the trophy welcome Flint Town United, with a 7.45 p.m. kick-off time.

It was a comfortable win in January this year, when Craig Harrison saw his side lift the first silverware of the 2023/204 season, following a 5-1 victory against Swansea City at Jenner Park.

Goals from Ryan Brobbel, Josh Pask, Brad Young and a brace from Adrian Cieslewicz, ensured that The New Saints got their hands on the trophy for the first time since 2018.

Friday’s visitors, Flint Town United, exited the competition at the first hurdle last season, losing 4-1 on penalties against Prestatyn Town, after the game was stalemate at 1-1 in normal time.

After one campaign in the JD Cymru North, Lee Fowler’s Silkmen are back in the top-flight of Welsh football this time round.

With the Nathaniel MG Cup sandwiched between Ferencváros and FC Petrocub, no doubt Craig Harrison will be looking to utilise the wider squad as far as Friday’s starting XI is concerned.

The officials are as follows: John Jones (referee), Richard Dolphin and Jake Smith (assistant referees), Richard Wright (fourth official) and Michael Jones (referee observer).
