In partnership with The University of Chester, The New Saints Football Club is offering a Fees Funded Master of Research (MRes) placement opportunity within our analysis department for the 2024/25 season.
The successful candidate will work closely within the analysis team of the UEFA Champions League and 16-time JD Cymru Premier champions. Additionally they will work with the clubs best-in-class coaches and a variety of multi-disciplinary staff to deliver high level performance analysis support.
The MRes in Sport and Exercise Sciences (Sports Performance Analysis) is an innovative opportunity to engage in a substantive individual research project with personal supervision and targeted research training. The aim is to give students a supportive environment in which to develop and utilise research skills in specific areas of interest whilst gaining applied experience within the elite sports industry
This fees funded opportunity highlights The New Saints commitment to providing opportunities to bring through the next generation of talent to the football club both on and off the pitch. This opportunity will provide the successful candidate to gain on the job experience in the analysis department of one of Europe’s most successful clubs.
The criteria to apply for this role is as follows:
- A minimum 2:1 undergraduate degree in a sports-related course
- Interest in researching a topic within professional football and knowledge of research methods
- Willingness to learn and the ability to self-reflect and continuously improve practice
- Excellent understanding of football through playing, coaching or analysis experience
- Good knowledge of Performance Analysis Software
- Understanding of athlete testing and monitoring
- Excellent attitude to work and learning
