After seven weeks of waiting, the SPFL Trust Trophy final is finally here, as The New Saints take on Airdrieonians at the Falkirk Stadium on Sunday.
The Saints have already seen off challenges from Hibernian B, East Fife, Arbroath and Falkirk to reach this stage of the competition, with the Diamonds set to provide the final test of what’s been a superb run so far.
No club that plays its football outside of Scotland has ever won the trophy, so Craig Harrison’s side will be hoping to create more history north of the English border this weekend.
With TNS currently on a winning streak of 26 consecutive matches, and Rhys McCabe’s side unbeaten in their last five games, there’s set to be little between the teams in Stirlingshire, and both sides will more than fancy their chances of emerging victorious.
Holding his pre-match press conference earlier today, head coach, Harrison, reflected on the 1-0 win against Newtown this past weekend, before switching his focus to what he describes as a ‘really tough’ game on Sunday.
The former Middlesborough defender shared insight into the work that’s gone in to prepare for the final, and also commented on the positive training sessions his side have enjoyed so far this week.
On top of that, Harrison provided an update regarding injuries and availability, and shared thoughts on where he believes The New Saints would fit within the Scottish football pyramid.
