This weekend (March 3rd), The New Saints Women travel to Cae-y-Castell in Flint to take on Wrexham in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup semi-finals.
The New Saints are taking part in the Welsh Cup semi-finals for the first time following a 3-0 victory against Connah’s Quay Nomads (October 15th), a 4-0 win against Y Fellinheli (November 12th), and overcoming Aberystwyth Town 4-2 on penalties (December 10th), after the game finished 2-2 in normal time, with all three games taking place at Park Hall Stadium.
On the same dates, Steve Dale’s team got past Pwllheli 13-0 at The Rec, a 1-0 win over Llandudno, and a 2-0 victory over Briton Ferry Llansawel, both the latter came at The Rock.
The two sides have met each other in the last two editions of the Welsh Cup. The Red Dragons won 2-1 at Park Hall in the 2022/23 edition (October 30th, 2022), while The Saints were 3-0 victors at Colliers Park in the previous season (October 3rd, 2021).
In the last meeting between the teams, Wrexham walked away with a 3-2 win over Greg Draper’s team in phase one of the Genero Adran Premier at Park Hall.
For Sunday’s semi-final encounter, The New Saints are to wear green and white hooped shirts with green shorts and socks. The goalkeepers are to be in all-light blue kit.
Wrexham are in an all-red outfit, while the keepers are set to wear an all-grey kit.
The officials are as follows: Nicholas Pratt (referee), Connor Fowler and Richard Dolphin (assistant referees), Mark James (fourth official).
