The New Saints will face Cardiff Metropolitan University in the semi-finals of the JD Welsh Cup, tonight’s draw has confirmed. 

To book their place in the final four, Craig Harrison’s side defeated Briton Ferry Llansawel 5-1 in an entertaining quarter-final tie at the Old Road Welfare Ground last Friday, but they had to come from behind to do so after the hosts had taken a surprise lead just four minutes into the second-half. 

Goals from Ben Clark, Declan McManus, Ryan Brobbel and Brad Young flipped the match on its head, however, meaning the scoreline was a comfortable one come the final whistle.

In their quarter-final tie, Ryan Jenkins’ team defeated Colwyn Bay 3-2 at Cyncoed Campus, with the Archers also seeing off challenges from Cwmbran Town, Mold Alexandra and Haverfordwest County throughout the course of the competition.

Connah’s Quay Nomads will play Bala Town in the other semi-final, with both ties set to be played at yet to be determined neutral venues. 

The last-four ties were initially scheduled to take place across the weekend of 23/24 March, but due to TNS’ involvement in the SPFL Trust Trophy final, their tie against Cardiff Met will therefore be played seven days later (30/31st March).

Exact details, including the chosen neutral venue, will be confirmed in due course.
