Having already won the Nathaniel MG Cup, The New Saints is still involved in two other knockout competitions. This Friday (February 16) we travel to south Wales, as we take on Briton Ferry Llansawel at the quarter-finals stage of the JD Welsh Cup. Kick-off time is 7.30 p.m.

Currently the holders of the trophy – which is proudly displayed at Park Hall alongside the Nathaniel MG Cup and the JD Cymru Premier trophy – the last time that The New Saints tasted defeat in the competition was almost six years ago, on March 6, 2018.

Having reached the quarter-finals courtesy of wins against Ruthin Town, Trethomas Bluebirds AFC and Carmarthen Town, Craig Harrison’s side has scored 15 goals in the process and conceded none.

Our opponent on Friday, Briton Ferry Llansawel, also entered the JD Welsh Cup at the second round stage and have defeated Aberfan, Airbus UK Broughton and Llanelli Town with 3-0, 2-1 and 1-0 victories respectively.

Formed in 2009, as the result of a merger between Briton Ferry Athletic and Llansawel, The Ferry play their games at Old Road Welfare Ground.

With Andy Dyer in the hot seat, the side currently leads the way at the top of the JD Cymru South, which is the regionalised second-tier of domestic Welsh football.

The hosts will be in all-red, while TNS will be taking to the pitch in all-navy blue. The respective goalkeepers will be wearing green/grey/grey and all-purple respectively.

Alex McInch will referee the game and he will be assisted by Ian Bird and Harry Hendricks. Ieuan Lewis is the fourth official.
