Eleven changes

We’ve seen several games this season, when due to the heavy schedule, there have been multiple changes to the starting XI.

This time round though, it was quite literally a new team that took to the field.

There were eleven changes from the side that beat Newtown AFC last weekend, something which highlights just how much depth there is in the squad.

The strongest group of players that we’ve ever had at Park Hall? What do you think?

 

Jack Edwards 

He’s been at the club since he was eight years of age, which must have been even more of a personal highlight for Jack Edwards when he made his senior debut against Trethomas Bluebirds.

He knew in advance that he would be starting against the south Walians, and following the game we interviewed the young ‘keeper as we asked him about his own performance.

It’s true to say that he wasn’t as busy as his counterpart, Harry Irving, but nevertheless he was pleased with his performance.

Plus, he kept a clean sheet. That means a lot to goalkeepers.

 

Jordan Marshall

Due to the signing deadline, Jordan Marshall hasn’t been eligible for JD Cymru Premier games.

However, he made his debut against Ruthin Town in the last round of the JD Welsh Cup and he featured again in the competition this time round as well.

It was a chance for fans to see him at Park Hall for the first time in a TNS FC shirt.

He slotted in well and was able to push on into the opponent’s half and interact well with the players around him.

 

He likes the JD Welsh Cup, doesn’t he?

In the last round against Ruthin Town, Gwion Dafydd scored his first senior hat-trick for The New Saints.

He equalled the achievement this time, with another three goals to his name.

Regardless of the games in the meantime, the young striker will be certainly be in Craig Harrison’s thoughts for the next round.

If he is and he does start again, surely not a hat-trick of hat-tricks?

Well, he does like the JD Welsh Cup, doesn’t he?

 

Twenty-two unbeaten

The 7-0 win against Trethomas Bluebirds means that we extend the unbeaten run to twenty-two games.

It was also the first defeat of the season for the visitors, who came to Park Hall on the back of a 100% start to 2023/24, having won all thirteen of their matches in all competitions.

Back to The New Saints though, and we all know that next weekend’s SPFL Trust Trophy encounter with Arbroath will be a tough one.

However, we are full of confidence, and with no midweek game that means Craig Harrison and the staff have maximum time in which to prepare for the quarter-final tie.
