This weekend (October 15), The New Saints Women open their account in the Bute Energy Welsh Cup against Connah’s Quay Nomads at Park Hall Stadium.

In previous Welsh Women’s Cup campaigns, The New Saints lost in what was then the third round, before the competition was restructured this season.

The furthest Connah’s Quay have got in the Women’s Cup was the quarter-finals of the 2019/20 season before it was stopped due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Since the Cup first started in 1992, Cardiff City Ladies have won the competition the most times with 11 titles, while Cardiff City Women are the defending champions.

Last year, The Saints’ Welsh Cup journey ended in a 2-1 loss against Wrexham at Park Hall (October 30).

This weekend’s visitors are currently top of the Genero Adran North on nine points with three games played, and have won every game played in all competitions this season (six in total).

In the last competitive meeting between the two sides, the Oswestry-based team came out 4-0 victors in the Genero Adran Trophy last-16 (December 19) at Park Hall.

For Sunday’s encounter, TNS will be in a green and white hooped shirt with green shorts and socks. The goalkeepers will be in an all-purple outfit.

Jordan Parry’s side are set to have an all-red outfit, with the keepers to be in an all-blue kit.

Arthur Smallman is the referee, with Tom Crofts and Harvey Smallman as the the assistants.
