It was all going to plan…
After the first period, in which The New Saints dominated possession but couldn’t break the deadlock, a goal in the 55th minute was followed by another 26 minutes later.
With less than ten minutes of normal time remaining, cruising 2-0 and looking good, it was all going to plan…
However, Barry Town United didn’t give up and snatched a dramatic 90+6 equaliser, after pulling one back with five minutes to go.
Sometimes, things don’t always go to plan…
Adam Roscrow
Back in the starting XI for the game, it was great to see Adam Roscrow score his first senior TNS FC goal in over two years.
It was a well-executed finish, and after battling a well-organised Linnets’ defence for fifty-five minutes, it was great to get the breakthrough.
As well as the goal, Roscrow worked hard, put himself about and contributed to the cause before being substituted with eleven minutes to go.
Jordan Williams
Edging Adam Roscrow for the MOTM award was Jordan Williams, who found the net as The New Saints established a two-goal lead.
Not just the goal, but his overall effort in both halves saw Williams collect the Henstone Distillery MOTM.
He was also our player choice for the post-match interview.
Benny Couto
If the result had gone differently, then there would be a greater general spotlight on Benny Couto, as the loan signing from Oldham Athletic made his debut off the bench.
Slotting in the left-back position as Danny Davies switched to the other side, it was good to see the young defender get his first minutes in a TNS shirt.
It’s not all doom and gloom
Although it feels more like a defeat than a draw, it’s good to step back and see the big picture.
We’re still unbeaten in the JD Cymru Premier and – albeit on goal difference, which is actually the same position as the two previous weeks as well – sit top of the table.
With nine goals from three games, we are the league’s leading scorers and Rory Holden returned from injury, coming on in the 79th minute.
