A first victory over The Swans
The New Saints Women claimed a brillaint 2-1 victory over Swansea City Ladies on Sunday afternoon at Park Hall Stadium.
It was the very first win over The Swans for Greg Draper’s team in the Genero Adran Premier.
Defeat for Ceri Phillips’ side was their first of 2023 and only a second loss in the league this season.
Beth Lewis
The skipper delivered once again from the penalty spot at the weekend.
When the ball hit a Swansea City centre-half in the 29th minute, Beth Lewis stepped up and sent Swansea City keeper, Klaudia Wojtyczka the wrong way.
The 21-year-old has now scored eight goals in all competitions this season and continues her 100% record from the penalty spot for The New Saints.
Sarah Parkes
Sarah Parkes made a couple of really notable good notable stops to deny Swansea City attacker, Stacey John-Davis in the weekend’s encounter at Park Hall.
Parkes has made crucial saves throughout the season and Sunday’s game is right towards the top of those performances.
Emily Ridge
The New Saints’ number 35 found the back of the net once again in the 22/23 campaign to claim a tenth goal in this season’s Adran Premier.
Emily Ridge scored from six-yards away in the second 45 to claim what turned out to be the winner of the game.
The striker has been pivotal to the team’s success ever since the hat-trick away at Barry Town United (November 6).
Greg Draper
Since Andy Williams left the club, Greg Draper has done a lot of the work on the pitch and behind the scenes with the assist of James Steer, Nicola Deane and Will Catterall.
Great credit has to be given to the New Zealand international for his work since becoming head coach, and the introduction of Shauna Duffy as Head of Women and Girls’ Football will be a great help to Draper moving forward.
The Saints’ all-time top scorer will be putting a lot of work in on the training pitch over the next couple of weeks to ensure his side end the season on a high against Cardiff Met at Cyncoed Campus on Saturday, April 15th.
