The New Saints Women have moved to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window, and are now pleased to confirm the signing of Georgie Gresham.
A product of the Exeter City Girls’ Development Centre, Gresham progressed through the ranks with the Grecians and made her first team debut in 2018.
In her two seasons at Exwick Sports Hub, she scored 19 times in 33 appearances across the 2018/19 and 2019/20 seasons, with her impressive performances earning her a spot within the England Colleges FA (ECFA) set-up.
She was chosen as captain of the ECFA squad for the WSL Academy Cup campaign, and was then vice-captain as the group headed out to Italy for an international tournament a few months later.
Last season (2021/22), Exeter-born Gresham made the switch to Cheltenham Town Ladies and was a key member of the Robins’ squad that won promotion from the FA Women’s National League Division One South West.
A BSc Sports Coaching student at Hartpury, The Saints’ new number 23, who can play in both defence and midfield, has most recently been representing the University in the BUCS Football League on a Wednesday afternoon, alongside fellow TNS player, Helen Evans.
Arriving at Park Hall with three phase one fixtures remaining, Gresham will be hoping to make an immediate impact by helping her new team qualify for the Genero Adran Premier’s Championship Conference for the first time.
Expressing his delight at getting the deal over the line, head coach, Greg Draper said: “I’m delighted to be able to bring Georgie on board, as she’s a player who will add an unbelievable amount of strength to our squad.
“A fantastic all-round athlete, but equally as comfortable with the ball at her feet, she’s also a fantastic girl who’s fitted into the squad amazingly well.”
The 20-year-old was equally pleased with her move to Oswestry, telling us earlier today: “I’m really happy and excited to be given the opportunity to sign and play for a club that has so much talent, and has come a long way in the last year.
“I can’t wait to get started against Cardiff City this Sunday and help the team secure their spot in the Genero Adran Premier top four.”
