Through to the semi-finals

The New Saints Women were  2-0 victors against Pontypridd United on Sunday afternoon to make it through to the semi-finals of the Genero Adran Trophy.

Sunday’s result means it is two successive Adran Trophy semi-finals for The Saints.

The semi-final opponents will be found out this evening.

Izzy Redding

It was a quiet first-half until TNS broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute through Izzy Redding. Helen Evans passed the ball to Redding, who netted into the corner of the net from close range.

With that goal, Redding earned herself a place in the Genero Adran Leagues Team of the Week.

The disallowed goal

On the stroke of half-time, TNS thought it was 2-0.

Emily Ridge found the back of the net, however the referee ruled out the goal with the claim that Brook had two hands on the ball and the keeper had lost control of it before the chance fell to Ridge.

It was a potential game-changing moment with the game 1-0 at the break.

Emily Ridge

The Oswestry-based outfit secured the game in the 83rd minute.

Lia Lewis played a through ball to Ridge and the no.9 slotted it past Brook.

It was the eighth goal in all competitions for Ridge this season

Another clean sheet

TNS kept two consecutive clean sheets for the first time this season on Sunday.

Credit has to go to Sarah Parkes and the defence for keeping the Ponty attack at bay once again.

Greg Draper’s side will be looking to continue their winning ways this Wednesday (January 18) against Abergavenny in the Genero Adran Premier.
