Eight different goalscorers
It was a very happy Sunday for The New Saints, as Andy Williams’ team progressed in the FAW Women’s Cup with a 12-0 victory against Airbus UK Broughton at Park Hall Stadium.
In total there were eight different players that found the net throughout the game.
The goalscorers in the match were Caitlin Chapman with a hat-trick, braces by Lexie Harrison and Chantelle Teare, with the other strikes from Beth Lewis, Lucie Platt, Dani Staley, Lily Whitefoot and Lia lewis.
This is fantastic moving forward knowing there are so many players that are capable of a goal.
Lily Whitefoot
It was a first goal for Lily Whitefoot in the senior team on Sunday.
Whitefoot came on with Nicole Samson early on in the second-half, and 15 minutes later the 16 year-old delivered a goal that any keeper would struggle to stop.
A strike, which was hit with perfection went in off the top of the crossbar and over the line, not a bad first goal in the senior team.
Andy Williams said in his post-match interview that Whitefoot can use that as fuel in the future.
Lia Lewis
Lia Lewis has rightfully been given praise by Andy Williams for her work rate so far this season, but it was the midfielder’s goal that caught the eye of the spectators.
Not long after Whitefoot’s top class finish, Lewis hit the ball from 25 yards away and chipped the Airbus keeper Ruby Stevens in the process for a goal that rattled the back of the net.
The Caitlin Chapman hat-trick
After Caitlin Chapman got all the headlines in the Genero Adran Premier last week you think it could not get any better for the 19 year-old, it just did.
Chapman got the very first goal of the day in the fifth minute when the Northern Irish player hit a shot from outside the box, that went into the top corner of the Airbus net.
The second one came in the 79th when Nicole Samson delivered a peach of a ball into the box that the forward tapped home.
Chapman scored her hat-trick with the 12th goal of the day in the 90th minute. A through ball was played through, as the no.17 got on the end of the pass and scored into the corner of the net past Stevens.

A clean sheet
The cherry on top was the clean sheet.
It was Libby Rubin’s full debut in goal and she did the basics well to keep out Lee Starkey’s attack.
The rest of the back line also did a great job to help protect Rubin’s net.
The Saints will be looking not to concede next week when Swansea City Ladies are the visitors to Park Hall (October 16) in the Adran Premier.
