A tough result to start the 2022/23 Genero Adran Premier campaign

It became a difficult match to take to start off the league campaign.

We took the lead early in the game, however Barry Town United equalised before half-time through Emily Nicholson.

A tough blow was delivered late on, as Mackenzie Olden netted two in added on time, leaving us empty handed after the opening fixture.

Lucie Platt

The most improved player from last season scored the first goal at the start of the new one.

A brilliant through ball from captain Beth Lewis found Platt who netted with a well composed finished in the Barry Town box.

The midfielder almost got a brace at the start of the second forty-five from the spot but was denied by a good stop from Barry keeper Erin Brennan.

Hopefully Sunday’s goal for Platt will be the first of many in the next few months.

Lexie Harrison

Harrison won the penalty at the start of the second forty-five and was winning fouls for the team all game.

It was a trait of the 20-year-old last season to force the opposition to make fouls on her and has started of this campaign no different.

Players to come in

There are still outfield players to come into what is already a strong squad.

Wales under 17 international and former Everton Player Evie Williams and forward Chantelle Teare are set to make their Saints debuts over the coming matches.

Meanwhile experienced players like Georgia Griffiths are also expected to return in the future once back from injury.

Plenty of fixtures to look forward to

It may have been a defeat to start the season, but there is a lot of football to enjoy over the next few months.

The journey continues next week at USW Sports Park against Pontypridd Town United (September 11), a ground where we picked up four points over the course of the last campaign.
