All’s well that ends well

It might have been a very late goal (90+1) but come the final whistle, Ryan Brobbel’s touch secured the three points against Penybont FC.

The players are very professional and as long as the game is still being played, they’ll keep going and never give up.

Look at their reaction in the lead image, that tells you all you need to know about the determination to win.

One of Craig Harrison’s signings from his first spell at the club, with three in all competitions he’s the leading goalscorer so far this season.

Actually, he’s the only goalscorer.

However, as a statistic on its own that can be misleading. As the next point highlights, there could quite easily have been three other names joining him this week alone.

 

A hat-trick of woodwork denials

It was certainly unlucky 13 for Declan McManus, because in that minute his header came off the left post.

Still in the first-half, it was Josh Daniels’ turn next to watch his header denied by the post, this time the opposite one.

As The New Saints pushed for the opening goal, with 73 minutes on the clock a superb strike from distance saw Ryan Astles’ smash the crossbar.

 

Ash Baker and Danny Davies

Both have been out for a while with injury and both featured in the game against Penybont FC.

The former started and the latter replaced him in the second-half.

Great news.

 

Clean sheets

Although reference has been made to the goals scored so far this season, the other side of the coin is the number of clean sheets that the team has kept.

That’s four from seven games in all competitions, with the defence yet to be breached in the JD Cymru Premier.

Without doubt, there is a solid foundation on which to build.
