Following the disappointing 2-0 defeat last week in Iceland, it’s a quick turnaround for Anthony Limbrick’s side as The New Saints face Víkingur Reykjavík in the UEFA Europa Conference League on Tuesday (July 26).

The second qualifying round second leg game sees TNS needing to score two goals more than the visitors on the night, just to bring themselves back into contention.

Having found the net just once so far in three European games (Ryan Brobbel’s goal against Linfield at Park Hall), on paper it’s a tough challenge.

Plus, having conceded four in the last two outings, that merely compounds the task that lies ahead.

However, one thing we know is that the players and staff will be totally focused on Tuesday’s game, and once that whistle goes they will give everything to haul themselves back into the tie.

Fresh in the memory for TNS FC fans will be the tie against KF Shkëndija in July 2018.

Following the 5-0 defeat in Macedonia (as it was then), back at Park Hall a week later goals from Dean Ebbe (15), Danny Redmond (30) and Ben Cabango (35) gave the hosts a 3-0 lead at half-time.

Kurtis Byrne’s 90+6 goal unfortunately came too late to rescue the tie, as it ended 5-4 on aggregate come the final whistle.

Back to the present, The New Saints may be down but certainly not out…
