The final game of the 2021/22 season for both Penybont FC and The New Saints FC will be the JD Welsh Cup final on May 1.

Before then though, there are four league games to play for both sides, including the Welsh Cup final dress rehearsal this Saturday (April 9).

The 2.30 p.m. kick-off will see the fourth – and final – JD Cymru Premier match between the sides this season.

With one victory for The New Saints (3-2) and two draws (3-3 and 1-1), the results – and the games themselves – have been extremely close encounters.

The one that will stand out in people’s minds is the most recent, the 3-3 at Park Hall that secured the JD Cymru Premier title for Anthony Limbrick’s team.

Going into Saturday’s game Penybont sits in fourth place, and with European places still up for grabs, still everything to play for.

Although twenty-eight points behind the champions, Rhys Griffiths will be more focused on the seven points gaps between Newtown AFC and Bala Town, who are in second and third respectively.

The officials at SDM Glass Stadium this weekend are as follows: Aaron Wyn Jones, the referee, assisted by Ashley Davis and James Sheils with Richard Harrington the fourth official. Craig Greenstock is the referee’s observer.

Penybont FC will be in blue shirts, white shorts and socks, while the goalkeepers will be wearing all-yellow.

The New Saints will be taking to the field in black and grey shirts, black shorts and socks. The ‘keepers will be wearing red/blue shirts, red shorts and socks.
