A thrilling Game
Sunday’s match against Cardiff Met WFC in the Adran Trophy was one of the best from a spectator’s perspective.
Unfortunately we were on the wrong side of a five-goal thriller as the team exited the competition in a 3-2 loss.
All the players should be proud of the performance they put in against the multiple time domestic champions of Wales.
Lexie Harrison
The attacking midfielder netted her seventh goal in all competitions this season and was included in the team of the round.
The goal for Harrison on Sunday was the first in the encounter and continued to be a threat when The New Saints had chances.
More goals will likely come before the end of the season if the same threat is posed to the opposition teams in the Adran Premier Plate.
Georgia Griffiths
Griffiths was the other Saints players included in the team of the round.
A player not afraid to make a tackle, the no.7 had a great game that was topped off by a goal on the volley after a well-executed corner delivery from Lucie Platt.
The Second Half
The second forty-five in the game ended 1-1.
In all three matches that we have played against the Archers, the team has either won or drawn a half of football. It was a similar performance to the 0-0 second-half against Swansea before Christmas (December 12).
This group of players are not far away from causing an upset against one of the “big three”.
Belief
Everyone involved with The New Saints Women’s team can take great belief from Sunday back in to the Adran Premier.
Five important matches await starting with Pontypridd Town AFC Women next weekend (March 6th).
