LATEST NEWS

Jon Routledge

With Chris Marriott and Paul Harrison absent from the starting line-up as per the game against Conwy Borough, the captain’s armband was handed to Jon Routledge.

Another sterling performance saw the midfielder lead by example, as he scored the opening goal right at the end of the first period.

Jon’s contribution to the side has been excellent this season and he’s been a major factor in the healthy position that the club currently finds itself in.

Ben Clark

Talking of good performances and goals, we had both from Ben Clark as well.

It’s easy to forget sometimes, in terms of football-age maturity, that Ben is still a youngster himself.

The fact that he finds himself regularly in the starting eleven, speaks for itself.

His goal was a superb effort, as he made his way forward and unleashed a strike that beat the ‘keeper and found the back of the net.

Connor Roberts

Connor has featured in back-to-back games, having played in last week’s JD Cymru Premier victory against Cefn Druids.

It’s just unfortunate for the highly-talented Roberts that he has Paul Harrison to compete with. Two into one just doesn’t go, as far as goalkeepers are concerned.

Would it be too much to suggest that we have the best two ‘keepers in the league?

Clean Sheet

The 2-0 victory meant that we collected our 14th competitive fixture clean sheet of the season.

All four games – each one against sides outside of the top-flight – in the JD Welsh Cup have ended with The New Saints yet to concede a goal, excluding the penalty shoot-out at Carmarthen Town, of course.

Unbeaten Since March 2018

The last time that The New Saints lost in the JD Welsh Cup was March 6, 2018, before going on to lift the trophy in 2019.

Reaching the semi-final stage the following season, the competition came to an abrupt end due to Covid.

A year later there was no action at all, for the same reason.

The draw for this season’s semi-finals will be made tomorrow (Monday) at 8.00 p.m.
