Again, Just One Goal In It

Since their promotion to the top-flight of Welsh football, Penybont FC have been a tough nut to crack at Park Hall. In fact, the three previous games, although victories for The New Saints, have been decided by just one goal.

The 2-1, 2-1 and 1-0 wins have now been joined by a 3-2.

We make no apologies for the fact that the striker gets more mentions in this column than anyone else. In yesterday’s game he scored twice – the opener and the decider.

He was also awarded the Sgorio man of the match bottle of champagne.

Declan now has sixteen JD Cymru Premier goals this season, which puts him four ahead of Mike Wilde (Flint Town United) and Aaron Williams (Newtown AFC).

 

Paul Harrison

The ‘keeper celebrated his 37th birthday yesterday. His performance showed that no matter how many candles on your cake, there’s no reason why age, in itself, should be a negative thing.

With fifteen trophy-filled years at the club, Paul continues to excel and maintain the highest standards.

A true club legend.

 

No Clean Sheet In Three

We have to go back to the Newtown AFC game, a month ago, for the last clean sheet. Since then, there have been wins of 4-1 (Bala Town), 2-1 (Barry Town United) and now 3-2.

We asked Paul Harrison, in the post-match interview, his thoughts on the recent lack of clean sheets.

Ultimately though, it’s about the three points.

 

Sitting Pretty At The Top

Yesterday’s win, combined with Flint Town United’s defeat against Newtown AFC, means that The New Saints leads the way at the top of the JD Cymru Premier with a healthy lead of twelve points.

While there most certainly will not be any complacency whatsoever, nevertheless we can all enjoy the festive season that much more.
