A Brave Performance

The New Saints FC Women weren’t afraid to attack Chris Church’s Swansea on Sunday and this paid off with just under quarter of an hour gone in the game.

Even though we didn’t collect any points in a 3-1 loss at Llandarcy Academy Of Sport, it was fantastic to see the team confidently play good football against the best side in Wales.

The Home And Away Goals Against Swansea

Andy Williams’ team have scored the most goals against the Swans this season.

The league leaders have only conceded three in all competitions so far and two have come against The New Saints.

Emily Ridge scored one of the goals of the season as she netted a 35-yard screamer in the game at Park Hall Stadium against the South Wales club just under two months ago.

The other goal was on Sunday when Caitlin Chapman made a run down the right-hand side and passed the ball into Lucie Platt who slotted home.

Second-Half Clean Sheet

The second forty-five showed all the players work rate to keep going right until the final whistle.

A 0-0 in the second-half was the fifteenth time we have managed to win or draw a forty-five in all competitions this season.

This was against a side that pushed CSKA Moscow to extra-time in the Champions League back in August.

Lucie Platt

Having only recently come back from injury against Port Talbot Ladies last week, it was a fantastic performance from Platt.

The midfielder, as mentioned above got on the score-sheet to claim her second goal of the season.

A good post-match interview after shows that the player is confident on and off the pitch.

End Of Phase One

It was the final match of the first phase for The Saints in the Genero Adran Premier last weekend.

What has impressed me most from watching every fixture this season is the way the squad has evolved over the course of a short amount of time.

Pontypridd Town AFC Women, Barry Town United Ladies and Port Talbot should all watch out when phase two comes around.
