Three Points
It was a crucial 2-0 win on Sunday over Port Talbot Town Ladies.
The two goals were brilliantly taken by Lexie Harrison and Caitlin Chapman in the first-half, as we then sustained the gap in the second forty-five to get the win.
A loss would have seen us eight points behind Hayley Williams’ team, however the gap is now just two.
Lexie Harrison
It is never easy to bounce back after missing a penalty earlier in the game, but Harrison managed this brilliantly.
After the no.6 had a spot-kick saved in the 26th minute, Harrison got on the end of an Emily Ridge through ball and slotted the chance past Emily Roberts.
The Midfielder’s performance was merited as she was included in Sgorio’s 5-on-form today.
Caitlin Chapman
The Northern Irish player opened The New Saints account on Sunday after a through ball from Georgia Griffiths found the no.17 who netted past Roberts’ bottom-left.
Chapman’ performance was also warranted as the versatile player was put in the Genero Adran Leagues’ team of the week yesterday.
A Clean Sheet
Every time The Saints have won a game this season there has been a clean sheet.
The team limited Port Talbot to very few chances and this was down to excellent defence.
Charlotte Turner was the other Saints player that was named in the team of the week as the defender did a solid job at the back to keep out any threats. This adds on from last week’s performance as the Radio Aber commentator credited Turner’s work.
Off The Bottom
The victory makes us move a point above Barry Town United Ladies in the table as we move into seventh.
With phase two approaching the win has put the team in a great position to continue making progress in the new year.
We have our final league game of phase one this Sunday (December 12) against Swansea City Ladies away at Llandarcy Academy Of Sport.
