Seven Games In And It’s Looking Good
The 3-0 victory means that The New Saints still leads the way at the top of the table by four points. It’s now Bala Town in second place, with the top two the only unbeaten sides so far in the league.
With nineteen points from a possible twenty-one, the good start to the JD Cymru Premier 2021/22 season continues.
Clean Sheet
With back-to-back clean sheets, that will be an encouragement to players and staff alike. Although the defence has not been breached in the two JD Welsh Cup games to date, the Aberystwyth Town win is just the third clean sheet in the league from seven games.
Declan McManus
Will Dec be pleased that he scored twice or disappointed that he didn’t get more? Probably both.
Either way, a goal at both ends of the first-half meant that the number nine took his league tally to six so far this season.
He’s in good company as far as individual goals are concerned, with Mike Wilde leading the way with seven and Dave Edwards just behind him on five.

Ryan Astles
The third goal, which effectively put the game beyond the reach of the visitors, was scored by the central defender.
Although there is a natural focus on new signings, it’s good to see ones from previous seasons continuing to develop and contribute significantly to the success on the pitch.
Ryan Astles is most definitely in that category.
Unsung Heroes
Although we mention individual players by name in the Five Talking Points articles, invariably it’s often a case of who do you leave out. It’s usually the fact that a goal was scored which puts that particular player in the spotlight.
The reality, though, is that there are numerous contenders for a specific mention from last night’s game. You could make a positive case for any one player to get a write-up.
Whether it’s Danny Davies’ support when the side attacks, Jon Routledge’s effort in midfield, Keston Davies’ fearless performance at the heart of the defence, Danny Redmond’s consistency, Leo Smith’s reading of the game, Jordan Williams’ tormenting of defenders when he gets the ball – or more – every one deserves credit.
