Six Of The Best
It was a comfortable win for The New Saints in the second round of this season’s JD Welsh Cup. The deadlock was broken in the sixteenth minute by Louis Robles.
Further goals from Jake Canavan (21), Robles (22) and Dean Ebbe (33), gave the home side a 4-0 lead at the break.
Two in the second period – Canavan (58) and Jeanny Leblanc-Akpo (90), secured progress into the next round of the competition.
The team is certainly scoring plenty of goals this season.
A Good Performance
Although Llanrwst United play a couple of tiers below the JD Cymru Premier, they came with a game plan and never gave up. They can certainly hold their heads high and focus positively on the rest of the season.
It was a solid performance from the home side though and no doubt one that Anthony Limbrick would be happy with.
In addition, the shuffling of the pack didn’t affect the fluidity of the side and that’s also an encouraging point.
Another Clean Sheet
For the third game on the bounce, the defence kept the opposition at bay. Well, we say the defence, but in reality it is a team effort.
You look on as corners are awarded against TNS and there are often ten green and white shirts in the area, along with the ‘keeper.
The adage that ‘we win together and we lose together’ could very well be developed in the case of The New Saints. We score together and we defend together.
Jake Canavan
We all know the potential that the young midfielder has and that was, quite literally, unleashed in the 21st minute. Poised on the edge of the box, he fired home to put The New Saints 2-0 up.
He added a second, thirteen minutes after the half-time break.
There were, as always, several contenders for the player post-match interview. We went for Jake.
Ryan Brobbel
How good was it to see Brobz back on the pitch? After a period of absence due to injury, the Northern Ireland U-21 international played the full ninety minutes as well. That’s a positive sign.
Remember the last time he returned from injury? You could sum that up in one word – goals. Let’s hope that’s the case this time round as well.
