This Saturday (September 4, 2021), we take a break from JD Cymru Premier action, as we welcome Leighton Griffiths’ Llanrwst United to Park Hall in the second round of the JD Welsh Cup.
The Rwsters play in the regionalised third-tier of Welsh football and currently sit in third place in the Lock Stock Ardal NW.
With ten points from five games (three wins, one draw and one defeat), they are three behind early leaders, Saltney Town, and two off Brymbo FC.
Although The New Saints enter the Cwpan Cymru at this stage, our opponent has already played twice, beating Amlwch Town and Llanfairfechan Town, both 2-1.
Although there has been no Welsh Cup for two seasons – due to the Covid-19 situation – the game this Saturday sees TNS begin the defence of the trophy.
The last side to lift the historic cup, it was a 3-0 victory against Connah’s Quay Nomads, in 2018/19, that ensured the silverware has resided at Park Hall ever since .
The New Saints will be in the traditional green and white hoops, white shorts and white socks, while the goalkeepers will be in all blue.
The officials are as follows: John Jones (referee), who will be assisted by Richard Dolphin and Alun Jones. At the time of writing, the other officials are yet to be confirmed.
The kick-off time is 2.00 p.m. and, as always, if you’re not at Park Hall, you can follow the action via our Twitter account or TNS Radio. The latter can be accessed via our website or Facebook page.
