Not The Result That We Wanted

As we put to Chris Marriott in the post-match interview, a draw on the road against Connah’s Quay Nomads early in the season would have been considered a decent result by many.

However, with the league table as it is, a point each wasn’t what The New Saints wanted. Without doubt, the Nomads will be the happier of the two with the 0-0.

 

At The Mercy Of Others

Going into the game on Saturday, the destiny of the JD Cymru Premier title was very much in our own hands. Win and we went to the top of the table.

Come the final whistle though, it means that we are now dependant upon other clubs to do us a favour.

 

The Game Of Throw-Ins

Without going back over the match again and counting them on an individual basis, it was certainly a stop-start affair, with constant throw-ins ruling the roost.

Along with the number of free-kicks awarded, it meant that neither side was able to gather momentum.

 

Clean Sheet 

Although it was the second draw on the bounce, one positive is that it was also another clean sheet. Having conceded just seventeen goals in twenty-nine games, The New Saints leads the way as far as tight defences are concerned.

 

Twists And Turns

Connah’s Quay Nomads sit in pole position as we enter the final straight of the league season. With a two-point advantage over TNS, the spotlight will be on both over the next week or so.

This coming Tuesday (May 4), the top two are on the road in south Wales, as the Nomads travel to Jenner Park, while we take on Penybont FC.

Will there be twists and turns come the final whistle? We shall see.
