LATEST NEWS

The latest player to put pen-to-paper on a professional contract with The New Saints is Jake Canavan, who initially joined the Academy after a spell at Burnley FC. Prior to that, he was briefly with Manchester City.

This week, Jake had his photoshoot with our official cameraman, Brian Jones, and you can view more images HERE.

In addition, we chatted with the club’s latest signing and you can watch that below.

Jason Brindley, our Head of Academy, was full of praise for the Toxteth-born youngster:

Jake Canavan joined The New Saints FC Academy at Under-15s, having previously played at Burnley.

He isn’t always the loudest off the pitch but his presence is always known on it.

Jake is always looking to receive the ball in tight areas and under pressure and his awareness has always been outstanding. He’s great at protecting the ball and getting out of tight situations. He also has a real steel determination to regain possession.

He’s a very polite and respectful young man and we are delighted that his talents have been further enhanced, and that he has been given this opportunity with our first-team.

Full credit to Kieran (Lee-Birch) and the other coaches, who have worked with Jake since he joined the club.

He really suits our style of play and he’s a great example of what a TNS player looks like. I’m excited to see Jake continue to develop and to see what the future holds.

Everyone at The New Saints FC wishes Jake all the very best for the future. He will be wearing the 27 shirt.
