This coming Saturday (December 12), it’s a massive game for both sides, as The New Saints travel to the Deeside Stadium to play Connah’s Quay Nomads in the JD Cymru Premier.

This will be the thirty-first time that the Nomads has hosted the league leaders, with the visitors having secured sixteen league victories to date, the Nomads seven, while seven have been drawn.

Connah’s Quay have found the net twenty seven times, while TNS have celebrated more than double that, on fifty-five occasions, to be precise.

However, in recent seasons, the encounters have been much more evenly-balanced. The six games since October 2017 have seen two wins each and two drawn games.

Since losing 2-0 in March 2019 – with TNS goals from Aeron Edwards and Ryan Brobbel – the Nomads have four points from two games, with a 1-1 draw and a 1-0 victory.

The latter was a day that will not be forgotten, courtesy of the weather. In atrocious conditions, Craig Curran scored what was to the only goal of the game, in the seventh added minute at the end of the first half.

The sequence of results for the last half a dozen games – 2-2, 0-1, 1-0, 0-2, 1-1, 1-0 – suggests that it will be a close affair this Saturday.

There’s certainly plenty at stake for both sides, with The New Saints undefeated so far in 2020/21, while Connah’s Quay have only been beaten once.

The game is being played behind closed doors but you can watch the action via S4C. The kick-off time is 4.30 p.m.
